Brief History of the Department:
Education as a department started in the year 2014 as a general stream. The honours course started in the year 2022-23 with only 12 students. At present the numbers of students has increased manifolds with a consistent academic performance by the students. The department has been serving the student community of the society. It offers under graduate courses under Dibrugarh University.

The Education department of Golaghat Purbanchalik college aims at preparing learner-sensitive educators with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to contribute to a better society. To gather knowledge about the educational concept, philosophy, history, psychology, technology, values along with the current issues in Indian education system. To makes the students interested for higher studies. Moreover the department has been trying its best to attract the students to the occupation in teaching line and to be a skill teacher.
