World Environment Day was observed on 5 June 2026 at Golaghat Purbanchalik College through a joint initiative of the NSS Unit, IQAC, Eco Club, College Teachers’ Unit, and Students’ Union.

To mark the occasion, a plantation drive was organized within the college campus with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging the conservation of nature. Teachers, non-teaching staff, and students participated enthusiastically in the programme and actively contributed to the plantation activities.

The programme was hosted by Mr. Bijit Saikia, NSS Programme Officer, who highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and the need for collective efforts to protect the environment. During the event, Mr. Pranjal Saikia, IQAC Coordinator, delivered an insightful speech on environmental consciousness, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and ecological responsibility in everyday life.

The programme witnessed the active participation and support of Dr. Mala Moni Goswami, Vice Principal, Ms. Rinku moni Gogoi, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Donda Gohain, Library Assistant, along with other faculty members, staff, and students.

The observation concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to contribute towards environmental protection and to make the college campus greener and more sustainable. The plantation drive served as a meaningful step towards fostering environmental stewardship among the college community.

A Tribute to Pankaj Gogoi: On Wednesday, 13th May 2026,at Golaghat Purbanchalik college, a religious and auspicious ceremony was solemnly organized in the college premises by the college family to express deep grief and heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of faculty member Pankaj Gogoi of the Department of Economics.
Following Hindu traditions and rituals, devotees, Vaishnavites, alumni, members of the students’ union, teachers, and staff members actively participated and extended their cooperation in the programme.
The ceremony was successfully completed with due observance of religious customs and rituals. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. Haren Hazarika, expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone for their support and cooperation.

ERP Training program successfully completed at Golaghat Purbanchalik college :
On 1st April 2026, an in-house ERP training session was organized on the college premises under the guidance of the IQAC. The session was conducted by Aneswa Goswami, a professional IT consultant. In the present context, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has become an integral part of e-governance, and the training aimed to strengthen the college’s internal administrative mechanisms. Special emphasis was placed on improving processes related to admissions, result preparation, and maintaining databases on gender-related and other institutional matters.
The entire session was supervised by Dr. Haren Hazarika, the Principal of the college, while the program was coordinated by IQAC Coordinator Pranjal Saikia. All non-teaching staff actively participated in the session, making it a productive and engaging initiative.

Report on Special NSS Camp at Naisholya Village

A Special NSS Camp was successfully organized by the NSS Unit of Golaghat Purbanchalik College at Naisholya Borting, the adopted village of the college, from 24th to 30th March 2026. The camp aimed to promote social awareness, community development, and active student engagement through a series of meaningful activities.

During the week-long programme, several initiatives were undertaken to benefit both the students and the local community. A cleanliness drive was conducted to promote hygiene and environmental awareness among villagers and volunteers. In addition, a tree plantation programme was organized to instill a sense of ecological responsibility and environmental sustainability.

The camp also encouraged creativity and student participation through competitions such as drawing and poetry recitation. Students took part enthusiastically and displayed their talents with great zeal.

The camp concluded with an awareness meeting held on 30th March 2026 at the premises of Nausoliya Primary School. The meeting was chaired by the Head Teacher, Mrs. Gayatri Dowarah. In her address, she appreciated the efforts of the NSS unit in organizing such impactful programmes.

Dr. Horen Hazarika, Principal of Golaghat Purbanchalik College, highlighted the importance of moral education in shaping the character and values of young learners. Mr. Pranjal Saikia, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delivered an insightful speech on the benefits of yoga and meditation for maintaining both physical and mental well-being.

Furthermore, Mr. Krishna Dutta, a retired teacher of Borhig Bagaan LP School, spoke on the importance of traffic rules and road safety awareness, emphasizing the need for responsible behavior among citizens.

The programme also received active support from Mr. Chandrakanta Chetiya, the Village Headman, whose involvement contributed significantly to the success of the camp. Other distinguished attendees included Mr. Bijit Saikia, NSS Programme Officer; Mr. Donda Gohain, social activist; and Ms. Rinkumoni Gogoi, faculty member, all of whom motivated and encouraged the NSS volunteers.

The Special NSS Camp concluded on a successful note with active participation from students, teachers, and volunteers. It effectively achieved its objective of promoting awareness, discipline, and a sense of social responsibility within the community.

Field Study Report: Visit to Tezpur Historical Sites

Introduction
As part of the academic curriculum, the Department of History, Golaghat Purbanchalik College, organized an educational field study to the historically significant sites of Tezpur, Assam. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Pranjal Saikia, Head of the Department of History. The primary aim of the field study was to provide students with practical exposure to historical monuments and enhance their understanding beyond classroom learning.

Participants
More than 40 students from the 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters actively participated in the field study. The enthusiastic involvement of students contributed to the success of the educational tour.

Places Visited
During the field study, students visited several important historical sites in Tezpur, including:

Daparbatia Archaeological Site

Agnigarh Hill

Mahabhairav Temple

Objectives of the Field Study
To understand the historical and cultural significance of Tezpur.

On 31st March , 2026, Golaghat Purbanchalik college solemnly observed Chatra Divas on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. The programme was jointly organized by the IQAC, Grievances Redressal Cell, and the Departments of Political Science and History with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Dr. Haren Hazarika, and former Principal, Sri Anil Sarmah, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. The session was presided over by Dr. Haren Hazarika.

On this occasion, distinguished speakers including Sri Anil Sarmah,(ex principal) Dr. Mala Goswami (Vice Principal), and Sri Pranjal Saikia (IQAC Coordinator) delivered insightful speeches highlighting the life, ideals, and contributions of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma towards the upliftment and unity of the Bodo community and the nation at large.

The programme also featured cultural performances by students, including modern dance presentations, which added vibrancy to the celebration and reflected the spirit of the occasion.

Faculty members Smt. Rinkumoni Gogoi and Sri Bijit Saikia actively contributed to the successful organization of the event. The entire programme was efficiently coordinated and hosted by Sri Pranjal Saikia, IQAC Coordinator.

On the occasion of International Day of Forests (21st March), a tree plantation and sapling distribution drive was successfully organized on 23rd March, 2026, at Golaghat Purbanchalik College. The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Forest Department of Assam in collaboration with IQAC and the Student Union of the college.
During the event, more than 200 valuable saplings, including Mehgani, Mango, Madhuriam, and Litchi, were planted across the campus and distributed among students and teachers to encourage environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Approximately 100 saplings were planted within the college premises as part of the drive.

The programme featured an insightful address by Sasanka Saikia , Forester, Golaghat zone, , who attended as a guest and highlighted the importance of forest conservation and community participation. Another person Jehir Uddin Ahmed , Ranger ,Golaghat also attended as a guest. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Haren Hazarika, who emphasized the role of educational institutions in promoting ecological responsibility.

Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff actively participated in the programme, making it a collective and impactful initiative. The entire event was efficiently coordinated by Pranjal Saikia, coordinator IQAC, whose efforts ensured its smooth execution.
