CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL LIBRARIAN’S DAY

August 22, 2026Golaghat, 15 August 2026: Golaghat Purbanchalik College celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on 15 August 2026. The programme was jointly organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Teachers’ Unit and Students’ Union of the college.
The programme commenced in the early morning with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by former Principal Shri Anil Sharma, marking the beginning of the Independence Day celebration. Thereafter, Dr. Haren Hazarika, Principal of the college, hoisted the National Flag in the presence of the Vice Principal, Dr. Malamoni Goswami, teachers, non-teaching staff and students.
The celebration reflected a strong spirit of patriotism and national pride. Digvijay Das, a 1st Semester student, added to the patriotic atmosphere by presenting patriotic songs, which were warmly appreciated by everyone present.
A noteworthy and inspiring moment of the programme was the generous contribution made by Pallavi Sarmah Baruah, a 3rd Semester student of the college and an interior designer. Demonstrating her sense of responsibility and commitment towards her institution, she donated her first month’s income to the college authority. Her gesture was highly appreciated and served as an inspiring example of gratitude, dedication and social responsibility among students.
The entire programme was hosted by Dr. Pranjal Saikia, IQAC Coordinator, whose effective coordination contributed to the smooth and successful conduct of the celebration.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to uphold the values of freedom, unity, democracy, patriotism and responsible citizenship. The celebration was a memorable occasion for the students, teachers and staff of Golaghat Purbanchalik College.
