Action Taken:
On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, an awareness programme was organized on 26 June 2026 under the joint initiative of the IQAC, National Service Scheme (NSS), and the Grievance Redressal Cell of Golaghat Purbanchalik College.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle, and the collective responsibility of society in preventing substance abuse.
Mr. Probin Das, a renowned Nasha Mukti Mitra, was invited as the Chief Guest. He delivered an insightful and motivating lecture highlighting the physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of drug addiction. He also encouraged students to stay away from narcotic substances and become ambassadors of a drug-free society.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Haren Hazarika, Principal of the College. The programme was attended by Dr. Mala Moni Goswami, Vice Principal; Pranjal Saikia, IQAC Coordinator; Bijit Saikia, NSS Programme Officer; and Rinku Moni Gogoi, Coordinator of the Grievance Redressal Cell, along with faculty members and students.
More than 50 students actively participated in the programme and interacted with the resource person during the awareness session. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to promoting a healthy, drug-free campus environment.
Outcome:
Enhanced awareness among students regarding the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Students were motivated to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
Participants gained knowledge about preventive measures, rehabilitation, and the role of youth in building a drug-free society.
The programme strengthened the college’s commitment to social responsibility and community awareness through collaborative initiatives of IQAC, NSS, and the Grievance Redressal Cell.
